A detective has been caught in a ‘state of undress’ having sex with a lawyer in a police station interview room.
Detective Inspector Ricky Price and Rachel Pudner were being so loud during their session at Cockett police station that a PCSO became concerned and went to investigate.
Mr Punder was on duty at the time of their romp and Mrs Pudner was at the station to represent a client.
As a result Price, 42, has quit after 22 years of service while Mrs Pudner, a family law lawyer, is still partner at her firm in Swansea.
An source at the police station: ‘It’s been a bit of a scandal – people were sworn to secrecy but everyone knows what happened.
Inspector Price was a career cop who was tipped for further promotion. But he has lost his job all for a quick moment of passion.
‘They were taking a huge risk, they were both practically naked when the PCSO found them at it.’
Mr Price is engaged to Emma Kayes, 33, while Mrs Pudner is married to BT manager Matthew Hulme, 42.
Despite his resignation a misconduct hearing will be heard and he will receive his police pension because he quit before being sacked.
Chief Superintendent Dorian Lloyd, head of professional standards at South Wales Police, said: ‘We are fully aware of the allegations against the officer and an internal investigation is ongoing.
The officer has not been suspended and once the investigation has taken place the matter will be subject to a misconduct hearing.
‘Until this process is complete it would be inappropriate to comment any further on the allegations.’
Mr Price and Mrs Punder have not yet commented.
